Microsoft‘s Vice President of Small and Medium Business and Distribution Birger Steen will be leaving the warm embrace of the Redmond, Washington tech giant at the end of this month to take up the mantle of President of Parallels. [source] Aside from sounding like the name of an old Batman villain, the title will bestow Mr. Steen with an array of responsibilities, not the least of which is reporting directly to CEO and Chairman Serguei Beloussov. Mr. Steen will continue to be a leader in technologies that aid small businesses. Parallels, a software virtualization and Cloud services automation firm headquartered in Switzerland, is pushing its growth more toward the Cloud, a move many tech companies have been making since Microsoft announced its commitment to Cloud platforms at the Worldwide Partner Conference in July. At the conference, Varvid spoke to Jon McCarrick of Parallels, who told us about the new application stacks Parallels is rolling out for the Cloud.
